As the Director and Head Coach, I’m honored to lead a program that’s being built from the ground up. We’re not just forming teams—we’re creating a culture rooted in fundamentals, effort, and personal growth. Our goal is to develop young athletes who understand the game, love the process, and carry themselves with pride both on and off the court.

My basketball journey began in Brooklyn, New York, where I was shaped by the tradition-rich Xaverian basketball family. Through that program and its extended network, I was fortunate to learn from and be influenced by coaches connected to the Chris Mullin family and the legendary Lou Carnesecca coaching tree of St. John’s University. Their impact on New York basketball is undeniable, and those philosophies—discipline, toughness, high basketball IQ—left a lasting impression on how I approach the game today.

I went on to play Division I basketball at Boston University, where I sharpened my competitive edge and deepened my understanding of the game at a high level. After college, I extended my playing career professionally with a season in Germany, gaining international experience and a broader perspective on team dynamics and player development.

Now in our second season, the Lady Blue Devils program is home to two growing teams—Team Carolina and Team Columbia—each representing a unique facet of our evolving identity. When our players come together as Team Royal, they embody the unity and spirit that defines what it means to be a Blue Devil.

This program is about more than just basketball. It’s about building confident, prepared, and resilient young athletes who are ready for life’s next challenge. I’m proud to share my experience and vision with every player who puts on a Lady Blue Devils jersey, and I’m excited for what lies ahead as we continue growing this program in the heart of Benicia.

Thank you for being part of this journey. The foundation is strong—and we’re just getting started.

With passion and purpose,

~SW~
